The BLYTHE SCHOOL of Theatre Dance

Dancing classes are taught by Ann, Debra and Susan Blythe, assisted by Jayne Tether, singing classes are taught by Gemma Hawkins and drama classes are taught by Nicola Hawkins. We are fully registered with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing, accredited to the Council for Dance Education and Training, and our teaching staff are CRB checked. Who is your favourite dancer?
Gene Kelly - such flair!

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
Modern - it covers such a vast range of styles and techniques.

What is your favourite musical?
Cats - I saw the original London show back in 1981 and loved it. The CD is permanently in my car.

What is your favourite show number?
The audition scene from Chorus Line. It includes fantastic, slick modern dance routines.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Craig Revel Horwood - he's honest... but his manners need work!

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
Spend my time baking cakes.

Who is your favourite dancer?
Summer & Scarlett Strallen - perfect examples of the ‘triple threat’ performer.

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
Tap - I’m the noisy one out of all of us!

What is your favourite musical?
The Sound of Music - it's my earliest memory of a musical and I always thought I should have been Gretl.

What is your favourite show number?
42nd Street.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Craig Revel Horwood - he says it as it is!

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
Shopping during the day and a trip to the theatre in the evening.

Who is your favourite dancer?
Wayne Sleep - he brought classical technique into theatrical stage dance.

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
I love them all, but if I have to choose one it's ballet.

What is your favourite musical?
There's too many to choose from - probably Miss Saigon or Les Misérables.

What is your favourite show number?
Anything Goes.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Bruno Tonlioni - I think he's outrageous and he makes me laugh.

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
Put my feet up and relax!

Who is your favourite dancer?
Adam Garcia - it’s great to see him as a judge on Got to Dance.

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
As a child I preferred Ballet but as I got older loved the styles of Modern, particularly Lyrical.

What is your favourite musical?
For a great fun night I love Hairspray.

What is your favourite show number?
Rhapsody in Blue - it was one of the first numbers we did in a big group and was so different to anything we'd danced to before.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Craig - entertaining and rude, but usually has a good point.

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
A day out with the girls.

Who is your favourite dancer?
Fred Astaire - such a legend!

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
Tap - I can't keep my feet still.

What is your favourite musical?
Beauty and the Beast - even better on stage than screen.

What is your favourite show number?
Rhythm of Life - it was exciting to sing together in so many parts.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Len Goodman - he sees the good in everyone.

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
Catch up on lost sleep!

Who is your favourite dancer?
Matthew Bourne - his choreography is way ahead of his time.

Do you prefer ballet, tap or modern?
Modern as it's always changing and topical.

What is your favourite musical?
West Side Story - a classic love story with a twist.

What is your favourite show number?
Light at the end of the tunnel from Starlight Express - the song has an amazing message plus they're on skates.

Who is your favourite 'Strictly' judge?
Craig Revel Horwood because he's a producer of actor musician musicals and I want him to give me a job!

What would you do with a week off from dancing?
Go to Hawaii!
